Criteria for Student Referrals
If you're thinking about making a referral of a prospective student to St. Edward's University, here are some criteria that will help you. For traditional undergraduate students. For New College students. For graduate students.

Traditional Undergraduate Candidates:
For traditional undergraduate programs, we recommend that prospective students meet the following criteria:
- Have an SAT and/or ACT score comparable to state and national averages (SAT: 1000; ACT 21)
- Rank within the top 50 percent of their high school class
- Participate in and hold leadership roles in extracurricular activities
- Demonstrate success in challenging high school course work
New College Candidates:
For New College, we recommend that prospective students meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 24 years of age or have at least four years of full-time work experience
- Have graduated from high school or earned a GED (previous college work is strongly recommended)
- Earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00
Graduate Program Candidates:
- Have earned a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent
- Other criteria vary by program but may include minimum GPA requirements, work experience, and GRE or GMAT test score requirements
