Master of Arts in Human
Services
The Master of Arts in Human Services program offers concentrations in Administration, Conflict Resolution, and Human Resource Management.
The purpose of the MAHS program is to serve working
professionals by helping them build the communication,
managerial, technical and human relations knowledge,
skills and experience required
to advance their
careers. Competencies
such as leadership, critical thinking, decision making,
problem solving, communicating, teamwork and management
of self and others are addressed in the MAHS program.
The demands of supervisors, managers and administrators
in human service organizations include planning, organizing,
executing,
and evaluating. All of these areas are covered in the
MAHS core curriculum. True to the mission of St. Edward’s
University, the MAHS program nurtures its students toward
embracing personal responsibility for ethical behavior
and service to their communities.
The MAHS program provides education and training for
administrators, managers and other practitioners. Careers
in social service agencies, government agencies, private
businesses and consulting practices may be started or
enhanced by the attainment of the MAHS degree.
Flexibility
is one of the hallmarks of the St. Edward's MAHS degree
program. An example of our flexibility is the structure
in which we offer MAHS courses. The
MAHS degree program is on a trimester system, which
allow students to complete their coursework at a faster
pace than a traditional semester-based graduate program.
Each class meets once a week for a period of 13 weeks.
The average part-time student takes two classes each
trimester, allowing him/her to complete the MAHS program
in two years.
MAHS courses take place weekday evenings,
Mondays through Thursdays, from 6:50 p.m. to 9:40 p.m.
generally on our main campus.
Whether your goal is direct service delivery in a human
service agency, an independent counseling or mediation
practice, or organizational administration, the MAHS
program at St. Edwards is designed to develop
your leadership potential for solving human problems.
MAHS students may choose from the following concentrations:
A variety of certificate programs (non-degree) are
also available within the MAHS program.
