Business Development Council
(BDC) Internship Program |
Business leaders,
who are part of the St. Edwards University BDC, provide
students with an array of professional experiences through
exciting and challenging internship opportunities. Faculty
members are asked every semester to recommend exemplary students
to participate in the elite internship program. Once a recommendation
is submitted, the Career Planning Office invites students to start the
application process.
The internship search process of this program is different
from other internship programs. Students that meet the eligibility
criteria are interviewed and asked for their internship interests.
Once obtained, the BDC internship committee seeks internship
opportunities through their own contacts. Then the student
is invited to interview with the interested company.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students with a 3.25 or higher GPA
- Recommended to the Career Planning Office by a faculty member

ENLACE Community Internship
Program
ENLACE McGowen Internship Program |
Benefiting the
Montopolis Community of East Austin
Austin ENLACE is a collaboration of one communitythe
Montopolis neighborhood of East Austinjoining with St.
Edwards University, Austin Community College, Austin
Independent School District, Austin Latino Alliance, Austin
Interfaith and Dolores Parish Church. The mission of Austin
ENLACE is to increase the success of Hispanic students in
elementary school, middle school, high school, college and
beyond through sustainable programs and models that honor
the strengths and assets of our partner community, the Montopolis
neighborhood of East Austin.
The Austin ENLACE project provides a unique teaching and learning
opportunity for St. Edwards University students. Through
participation in a community partnership, interns will develop
leadership, citizenship, personal responsibility and collaboration
skills. Because these are paid internships our students, who
must work, will be able to participate and may be able to
replace a less appropriate part-time job with an internship
in their field of study.
From the St. Edwards University perspective, all ENLACE
interns will be strongly recommended to obtain academic credit
for their internship experience. Both undergraduate and graduate
students of all disciplines will be eligible to apply for
an ENLACE internship, however most internships will be structured
for undergraduates. Students will be allowed to continue as
Austin ENLACE interns for a maximum of two years. All interns
are compensated $10 per hour for the 15 week semester. A Service-Learning
Coordinator on campus and an on-site supervisor supervise
all interns. The expectation of the program is that the student
acquires an appreciation for systemic and institutional changes
in regards to enhancing Latino/a academic student success. |

Student Employment Partnership
Program |
Benefiting non-profit
organizations
Through the Student Employment Partnership Program (SEPP),
St. Edwards University students who receive work-study
money as a part of their financial aid package have the opportunity
to use that funding to share the cost of employment
in an off-campus, career-related position. This program allows
you to choose your work site and gain the valuable work experience
you desire. You may also use this work experience as an internship
and receive academic credit.
In short, if you obtain a part-time position at a local non-profit
agency and get a commitment from the agency for 30% of your
wages, St. Edwards University will contribute the remaining
70% of the cost. You must, however, be approved for college
work-study to participate in this program. |
