She oversees the University's benefits, compensation, classification, HRIS, training, employment, employee relations and diversity programs. Questions about retirement and retirement plans should be directed to her. Also, Haven is directly responsible for the University's compliance with various federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Mary assists the Director in developing human resources policies and programs as well as oversight of the university's compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Mary assists supervisors and managers with recruitment issues, position advertising, employee relations, and staff compensation. Questions regarding wage and hour laws, classification of staff positions, and staff recruitment and compensation issues should be directed to her. The Benefits and Records Coordinators, the Employment and Organizational Development Assistant and the HR Assistant report to Mary.

Abby administers all employee benefit plans and oversees the university’s compliance with federal and state laws in the benefits area. She provides information regarding implementation of university policies, practices, and procedures as they impact employees’ benefits. She also manages leaves of absences, and conducts benefits enrollment meetings for new employees.

Pat provides employee relations services, using her mediation background to help resolve conflicts. She also conducts and coordinates training for employees. In addition, she oversees organizational development, performance management and employee recognition programs, and manages the HR lending library of books, tapes and DVDs. Questions regarding interpersonal conflicts or communication issues, supervisory issues and resources, training and development, performance management, employee recognition or meeting/group facilitation should be directed to her.

Luisana coordinates the recruitment report processes and subsequent statistical data, prepares new hire paperwork for processing, initiates criminal background checks, and supervises student workers. She also oversees the I9 process and coordinates international employment. In addition, Luisana assists the Organizational Development Coordinator in coordinating trainings, implementing employee recognition programs and the Performance Evaluation Program (PEP).

Daniel Hawthorne

Daniel is the HR Assistant in the front office. He manages the HR Office, responds to applicant and employee inquiries by answering questions when appropriate or referring to other HR staff. He also initiates retirement enrollment processes, coordinates annual production of the employee telephone directory, assists with unemployment claims including preparations for hearings, and creates the monthly Savvy Supervisor and quarterly HealthSmart newsletters. Daniel updates personnel data records for any employee name change.

Billy is the human resources business analyst. He has technical knowledge and expertise from a range of areas in small business, enterprise and educational arenas. Billy uses his skills to assist with technology research, report development, web maintenance and various other projects within Human Resources. Leveraging the use of technology Billy helps align HR with St. Edward’s University vision, strategic priorities and the Human Resources charter.
