| St.
Edward's University provides free Internet access to all students
living on campus. All St. Edward's University Residence Halls
and Apartments are connected to the St. Edward's network via
ethernet. Every room has at least one jack, and shared rooms
will have two. Ethernet connections are much faster than modem
connections and should be used for connecting to the internet
from on-campus locations.
Requirements
In order to connect from on
campus, you must have
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista with all critical
updates installed or Mac OS X
- Symantec AntiVirus (provided on SEU Network Installer
for free)
- a Network Card (Category 5 or 6 with RJ45 connections)
- an ethernet cable
Logging into the St. Edward’s Network for the
first time
In an effort to provide a more secure and reliable resident computer
network, Network Services will require a login to access the network.
All Residence Hall users with Windows Operating System computers must login to
the Clean Access Tool to gain access to the SEU network. This
tool scans the computer to verify that all anti-virus and Windows
updates are current.
