Technology installation and re-engineering requests

Media Services provides design, installation & maintenance of classroom technology. It requires a team effort to successful engineer, program, design and installing technology equipment within budgetary constraints. Faculty or staff requesting display technology mounted in classrooms, offices or workspaces must actively participate in the process.

We request the following assistance before the installation project begins:

  • Sixty days advanced notice is the minimum, necessary for installation projects. Meet with Media Services personnel to discuss the project. Fall projects require discussion before July 1st to plan the work and have it competed done in a timely manner.

  • The dean or budget manager must give consent on the project and initiate the installation request and approve all expenditures. A cost center or budgeted amount must be approved before the installation begins.

  • Decide where the equipment should be installed. Control systems require custom programming and wireless projects involve engineering the zones. Noise, lighting and viewing angles must be considered.

  • Specification and purchasing research require a minimum of forty-five days before the installation.

  • Physical Plant must be contacted and work requests submitted for power, conduit, zoned lighting, screen installation and other related requirements.

  • Telecommunications must be contacted in regards to network drops, wire routing, conduits and other duties requiring their specialization.

  • During the fall and spring semesters, installations may not be possible due to classroom schedules.

  • Some labor-intensive projects may require budgetary approval from an administrator.
