2+2+2 Project Overview
Summary
A $120,000 grant, the 2+2+2 Model for Teacher Recruitment is a two-year project that recruits high performing minority and underserved high school students in Austin ISD to enter the teaching profession. It allows first generation college-seeking and underserved students to earn a college degree with teacher certification through an accelerated teacher pipeline program using articulation agreements among Austin ISD, Austin Community College, and St. Edward’s University.
Goals
Year One: Form a broad-based regional collaborative of educational partners spanning P-16 education for the purpose of planning the project.
Year Two: Operationalize the 2+2+2 Model for Teacher Recruitment action plan in area high schools
